House Plans!!!

So.... we have a house! Yay!!! Our journey will begin on the Monday after graduation (May 24th) and we close on Friday. I figure 5 days will be enough time to get us there.

We passed inspection with only 1 bump for the sellers (radon needs remediated) and a handful of DIY projects for Carey. Poor guy. He'll spend his last three weeks of freedom working on some sweat equity.

In one way it's really easy for me to make plans for our new home because I'm not there to see the obstacles and barriers. In another way I'm struggling because I have no idea what it really looks like. Other than the 5 pictures from the real estate website, I have nothing to help trigger my memory. See, we viewed this house AFTER the mold house. I didn't pay attention at all. Why should I? I had already made up my mind and knew what I wanted! Lesson learned. Next time I'll give them ALL a chance just in case...

Moving in will be a great suprise and I'm sure that most of my plans will need major modifications. Oh well, it's still fun to plan and dream. Let me start with Carey's DIY projects:

Shutters will be painted black.
Front door will be painted red.
We know that the outside trim is rotted and needs replacing.
The posts and rails on the front porch are also rotted and need replacing.
The chain link fence needs to be pulled up so that we can have a new fence put in.
3 windows need to be replaced.
Both storm doors need to be replaced.
Each room needs to be repainted.
The basement needs some kind of paint/sealant/waterproofing stuff.

Now for the dream projects. We'll see if and how long it takes to get these done!

That's really all that I have. I have no idea what the bathroom, living room, or basement look like. I know that nothing other than the bed will fit in the master bedroom and that the closet is TINY. Luckily, Carey has his own closet in his office so at least we don't have to share. You can see that the kitchen is teeny-tiny and there is not much storage at all. The rest of the house is pretty much the same. I'll have to take advantage of vertical storage and utilize every single inch! We already have way too much furniture for the house so I've had to start a list of each item and give it a designated spot. In order to keep every piece of furniture, I'll have to be very creative in how I make use of things. We may have an old gym locker as a pantry and old nightstands as outside tables. Who knows? I can't wait to play and nest in my new home. Seriously. I can't wait. 3 weeks to go. I hate to wish it gone, but I'll be so glad when it's time to load up!
