We've been super busy as I predicted and it's all so exciting! We find out whether we are going pink or blue tomorrow and I'm just on pins and needles. I'm at 20 weeks and half way through the pregnancy already. This time has been so different than the last but I'm finally starting to develop a relationship with the little one. Up until the last few days I've had a hard time bonding because of all of the distractions and very little participation from my little one. By participation I mean movement. I've decided that he/she must be lots like his/her daddy and LOVE to sleep. So because there isn't much movin' and shakin' from my lazy little one to remind me that he/she is there, I really haven't slowed down long enough to cherish this little baby. However, that is starting to change. The last two days he/she has done at least one big summersault and I suddenly remember that I'm growing something in there! That helps me to remember to take the time to talk, read, and sing to this little one just like I did with AGW. I'll really be able to start bonding when I can stop all of this he/she business and say one or the other!

We also upgraded to a family vehicle that our whole family comfortably fits in. I continute to remind Carey that it's MY new car though, just to pick on him a little!

Goodbye Camry!

No minivan for this soccer mom!

Carey is getting very excited about this weekend. It will be so nice to be officially called a DOCTOR! Yay! He's earned it and we are so proud!

AGW is busy getting the last of every toy, gift, cookie, and whatever else all of her grandparents spoil her with. She and I had a converstation last week that was pretty upsetting to her:

Me: Did you know that we're moving to Cincinnati soon?

AGW: Yesh

Me: And we're taking Cash (the dog), Emma (the other dog), and Texas (the kitty), with us!

AGW then proceded to name each grandparent individually and looked at me with sad eyes when I explained that they weren't going with us. The conversation ended quickly when she was dissatisfied with my response.

Her vocabulary is growing so quickly and right now she is really working on directional words such as on, off, up, down, in, out. Pretty amazing how she picks these things up on her own.

Her favorite phrase: I know!

Is it Saturday or Sunday? I just don't know anymore! I'm so off schedule and out of routine that I hardly know which way is up. We are busy with 3 graduations, last visitations, securing everything for the house and the trip, and hopefully getting a larger vehicle. This week's schedule is full of last minute details and good byes. I'm not sad yet, but it will come. If I just keep my mind busy with all of the fun in a roadtrip, new city, and new house, I'm ok. If I let my mind wander to the people we're leaving behind it gets awfully emotional. I'm really struggling with final good byes. The last time I went to Cincinnati I wasn't aware that I had said a final goodbye to my Papaw. I hate to think that I'm saying final goodbyes to anyone this time. So... I'm not going to think it and I'm going to enter a slight state of denial. Instead of focusing on the good byes, I'm going to focus on seeing everyone again in a few months. What good does it do to cry and make things miserable? I'm going to think of it as a state of hopeful not a state of denial.

AGW = terrible twos. We're there. Terrible twos are in full force. She is testing everything and everyone. It will be nice to get her back to a routine but then I won't have all of the grandparents around to help me! I'm hoping she won't continue to get worse and that I can find my "Happiest Toddler on the Block" book to help get me on track. This is God teaching me that patience thing again. He must think I'm in a contstant state of the terrible twos or that I'm just a really slow learner! ;)

Journey to 'nati

I'm ready to go. Beyond ready! I've set the appointment for closing (8 a.m. on the 28th!), I set appointments for the cleaning lady to come sanitize the place, security people to install our new system, fence people to build our privacy fence, plumber and electrician to correct some issues. The utilities will be on and are switched to our names. I think that is about all I can do from here. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but that's the best I can do for now.

We are anxiously waiting for next week. Next Thursday is the ultrasound and graduation is Friday and Saturday. Sunday we will pack and Monday morning at dawn we will head north. Our plan is to drive 7 ours the first day and stay in a hotel in Tulsa, OK. The second day we will drive 6 hours to St. Louis, MO where we will stay at a KOA campground. I'm super excited about camping even though we're kind of cheating by staying in a cabin equipped with A.C. and hdtv. The third day will get us into Cincinnati after another 6 hour drive. We will stay 2 nights in a hotel if things go according to plan.

We only have 1 week left to secure a larger vehicle and visit everyone for the last time. The good-byes are starting to become difficult as we realize that we may not be back for several months. We are trying to focus on the positive though...

OH! Shout out to my brother Cody. He proved that he actually does read my blog when he made fun of my detailed plans for the new house. Congrats Cody, enjoy your moment in the spotlight ;)

Even Stevens

This morning I felt really good about myself. As I sat down for breakfast with agw I realized that I had managed to get dressed, figure out the GT Express and make 4 omelettes, 3 bowls of oatmeal (all different flavors), feed both dogs, a kitten, and clean up my mess, all before Carey was able to drag himself out of bed. But he slid into his chair ready for breakfast wearing a surgery t-shirt and again, God just smiled and shook his head as my ego deflated. I remembered that on most days Carey will be out the door by 5 a.m. and saving lives without thinking twice all before my feet hit the floor. Hmm. He did bandage my ego a little when he tried making a pot of coffee without pouring in the water. I guess that makes us about even. ;)

Spray Butter

Yesturday was long. We went all over Knox City, Aspermont, Jayton, and every town and village in between. When we got home AGW was a wreck and I was exhausted. She screamed for food and bed and refused to be put down. I was so frustrated and annoyed and couldn't wait to hush her with yogurt. My plan didn't work. She didn't want to be put in her booster seat and she didn't want to eat her yogurt like a big girl. I found myself shoving spoonfuls of yogurt into her mouth as I balanced her on my hip. This soon turned into spoonfuls of cheery yogurt down my shirt and all over my leg. At that point I decided I'd had enough and planted her in her booster seat. She continued throwning a fit and asking for bread. At this point I decided she could have just about anything if it would make her quiet. My patience was gone. I hurriedly grabbed a slice of bread, pretty much stomped to the refridgerator (uh oh, reality check! I wonder where she gets it?) and grabbed the spray butter. I was so mad and flustered that I just began spraying the bread without looking. It was with a strong spray of butter to the face that God said "Seriously? You're as bad as she is". Everyday I learn more about patience and who is actually in control. Sometimes it takes a good squirt to the face for me to stop, take a deep breath, and let go.

1st Shiner and day dreaming

I woke up this morning thinking how exciting it will be to step into our home for the first time. Around every corner will be a surprise! We are working on getting estimates from fencing companies right now so that we can get a privacy fence put up. Right now there is a chain link fence around the entire backyard and Carey and I will tackle the huge job of removing it to save a penny or two. I know that will be interesting and exhausting. The house sits on the edge of a cul-de-sac and is the corner lot. Our main priority is at least having a fence set up along the street side of the yard. Luckily the entire yard is lined with bushes and trees, so it's really hard to see into it. We may have to do the rest of the fence gradually.

Here are the updates for AGW:
She told me that she doesn't want a brother or sister.
She thinks she runs soooo fast in her pink flip flops.
She LOVES to throw and kick a ball.
"Ash" = Cash
"Aw, mana!" = Aw, Man!
"Purpoo" = Purple
"Bobble" = Bottle or cup
"Waddle" = Water
"Nan-Up" = Make up
"Up-den" = Open

She somehow managed to get her 1st shiner in her bed last night.

I started my day dream about Costa Rica. Carey and I went on a delayed honeymoon last year on the exact day that he begins work this year. That's kinda funny to me! :)

Some day we'll go back with the kids and really have a good time. It may be a while though.

We are wayward!

Webster defines wayward as following no principal or law. That definitely describes us. We have a tendency to be impulsive and unpredictable. Having said that, in the last week we have adopted a kitten (because we needed another animal to accompany us on our 4 day trip to Ohio) and have decided to trade vehicles (great idea considering neither of us actually have a job right now and we have no clue what our financial situation will look like when we get there). We've both know that we are risk takers and our family has been shaking their heads at us since the day we got together. Carey and I think it keeps them on their toes and makes life interesting! :)

Here are some updated pictures of our adventures in the last week. We hope to be able to add pictures of a bigger family vehicle in the next few weeks as well! We'll see...

Meet TEXAS! The newest addition to the Watson Family!

AGW loves playing outside and refuses to take a nap these days!

Her favorite color is "geen"

She is currently very much into cell phones and babies of every color

She loves to "uddle" in her blanket and read a Big Bird book before bedtime. Then she lays down and reads to her baby.

House Plans!!!

So.... we have a house! Yay!!! Our journey will begin on the Monday after graduation (May 24th) and we close on Friday. I figure 5 days will be enough time to get us there.

We passed inspection with only 1 bump for the sellers (radon needs remediated) and a handful of DIY projects for Carey. Poor guy. He'll spend his last three weeks of freedom working on some sweat equity.

In one way it's really easy for me to make plans for our new home because I'm not there to see the obstacles and barriers. In another way I'm struggling because I have no idea what it really looks like. Other than the 5 pictures from the real estate website, I have nothing to help trigger my memory. See, we viewed this house AFTER the mold house. I didn't pay attention at all. Why should I? I had already made up my mind and knew what I wanted! Lesson learned. Next time I'll give them ALL a chance just in case...

Moving in will be a great suprise and I'm sure that most of my plans will need major modifications. Oh well, it's still fun to plan and dream. Let me start with Carey's DIY projects:

Shutters will be painted black.
Front door will be painted red.
We know that the outside trim is rotted and needs replacing.
The posts and rails on the front porch are also rotted and need replacing.
The chain link fence needs to be pulled up so that we can have a new fence put in.
3 windows need to be replaced.
Both storm doors need to be replaced.
Each room needs to be repainted.
The basement needs some kind of paint/sealant/waterproofing stuff.

Now for the dream projects. We'll see if and how long it takes to get these done!

That's really all that I have. I have no idea what the bathroom, living room, or basement look like. I know that nothing other than the bed will fit in the master bedroom and that the closet is TINY. Luckily, Carey has his own closet in his office so at least we don't have to share. You can see that the kitchen is teeny-tiny and there is not much storage at all. The rest of the house is pretty much the same. I'll have to take advantage of vertical storage and utilize every single inch! We already have way too much furniture for the house so I've had to start a list of each item and give it a designated spot. In order to keep every piece of furniture, I'll have to be very creative in how I make use of things. We may have an old gym locker as a pantry and old nightstands as outside tables. Who knows? I can't wait to play and nest in my new home. Seriously. I can't wait. 3 weeks to go. I hate to wish it gone, but I'll be so glad when it's time to load up!
This is a mini-blog. I'll be back later with the full story. Right now I'm sitting on the couch watching AGW help her daddy by throwing away his empty beer bottle. Along the way she pretended to take a sip, said "aahhhh", and looked at us with a troublemaking grin. I'm thinking her teenage years may be challenging! ;) On the tube is the diy network. I'm addicted. Tonight I'll bore you with house projects and share more about our new home. We finally have a house! Yay!
