Do you remember where we where last year at this time? Do you remember the countdown for the Match? I was driving myself crazy wondering where we would end up going. I'll never forget the excitement of opening that envelope and and being so incredibly proud of my husband for getting his top pick. That was a whirl wind of fun for us and we have such amazing memories.
A year later, we are trucking through our first year of residency. I was reminded this week of how lucky we are that Carey enjoys this program and that they enjoy him. Not everyone is so lucky and if someone isn't a good fit it's a tough situation. Sadly, Carey will be losing a fellow intern at the end of this year (July).
There's been a lot of talk about the weather lately. Sorry to bore you. I wasn't prepared for the rainy season after not seeing the sun for so long during those cold winter months. I'm used to a bright, sunny, spring and never imagined that I would have another season of gray and be stuck inside. I am grateful for the rain though, I know that it will make everything beautiful around here in a month or two.
Carey is still at the V.A. Honestly, there is not much to say about this rotation. He's busy enough and operates just enough to keep him from complaining, but there's nothing very exciting to talk about either. All I know is that he goes to work before 6 then comes home around 6ish. No excitement with him :)
AGW is really amazing me with her conversation skills lately. She's also become very curious about the world around her and has a question about everything! School is still her favorite part of the week and she enjoys helping me pack her lunch. We've spent lots of time together in the kitchen. She loves to help me pour, stir, and combine ingredients. Then she loves watching things cook through the little oven window. When the weather is agreeable, we take a spin around the block on her tricycle. We listen for birds, look for squirrels and chipmunks, and now we're watching very closely for little flower sprouts in the ground.
HLW had a check up yesterday. He is in the 75% for weight and height and a very healthy boy. He would absolutely love to get his knees under him and become mobile so that he can chase his sister! He's rolling over, sitting on his own, and very good at push ups. It won't be long until I'm really busy chasing him! I'm still working on his bedtime routine. He slept in his bed upstairs for a couple of hours last night and actually fell asleep on his own (after 3 hours of fussing and screaming at me for not picking him up!).
I'm so impressed that I'm actually able to get this post done. It's almost 11:00 and AGW is playing and watching Dora. HLW is sitting right beside me in the chair, somewhat content. This is HUGE progress!
